Gathering of Champions

A number of Falcon Ridge students were recently honored at the Mall of America Gathering of Champions ceremony, for their outstanding academic accomplishments. These students were nominated by a teacher from the last school year for the growth or overall excellence that was demonstrated. Pictured below are a few of the students who proudly represented the New Prague Area Schools-and Falcon Ridge specifically. Congratulations to Lindsay Bisek, whose artwork was used as the official G.O.C. logo, and also spoke to the crowd in attendance at the 10:00 A.M. ceremony. Fantastic work everyone!

Summer has arrived!

I'm hoping that everyone's first week of summer is off to a great start, and that the activities of summer have our kids busy and entertained. Don't forget to stop by the library or pick up a good book. Making time to read during the summer helps to reduce the amount of 'summer slide' that can take place, but also helps continue some routine that should carry over from the school year.

Bike Safety

This past week school resource officer John Madigan spoke to our Kindergartners, 1st graders, and 2nd graders about the importance of bike safety. With the warmer temperatures finally here, and summer just around the corner, his presentation was very timely. Officer Madigan gave some great reminders such as riding on the right side of the road, staying near parents, and the importance of wearing a helmet.

ACES in the sun...or clouds

The weather was cooler and wetter than we had hoped for, but our kids still had a great time at our annual ACES (all children exercise simultaneously) event. Over 30 stations were prepared to reinforce the idea that exercise and activity is important to the overall well-being of our students.

There's no way we could have pulled this event off without the outstanding support of our parent volunteers, as over 75 adults stepped up to ensure a great experience was had for our Falcon Ridge students. Additionally, the efforts of our our physical education department are greatly appreciated.Katie Herrmann and Dan Wagner put a great deal of time in to plan, setup and take down for this event.
