New Prague Area Education Foundation

We're excited to support and promote the New Prague Area Education Foundation (NPAEF), which works in conjunction with all of the schools in our district support classroom grants and ultimately-student learning. All teachers have the opportunity to apply for grants and since 2010, has donated over $40,000 to our local schools.

At Falcon Ridge, we've been fortunate to have the NPAEF award grants to numerous staff members. Most recently, three of our staff members have received the following grants: Sam Blank (Hands on Equations), Cindy McNab (Classroom Keyboard), and Lisa Luskey (Fountas and Pinnell Assessment Kit).

Visit the NPAEF website for more information- http://www.npaschools.org/foundation

SAVE (Suicide Awareness Voices of Education) Night in New Prague

Creativity Helps Hunger

Falcon Ridge recently held its 5th annual Creativity Helps Hunger event-also known as "Soup Night", to raise both funds and awareness for our local food shelf . This year, $880 was raised through selling clay bowls made by our Falcon Ridge 4th graders, warm soup available for purchase, and silent auction items. There was a great turnout on hand for our Soup Night-kudos to Falcon Ridge Art Teacher Kellie deNeui for coordinating this event once again, and to our 4th graders for their outstanding work on the clay bowls!

February is "I Love to Read Month!"

Our staff and students are excited to have 'I Love to Read Month' underway, as a way to show our commitment to being both lifelong readers and learners. Both adults and children have goals that they are working hard to achieve, and have been busy tallying the minutes they have read. Those that meet their goals will be entered in a drawing where one lucky person from each grade level-and one staff member-will get to throw a pie at Mr. Giesen at the end of the month! Keep on reading Falcon Ridge-it's going to be a great month!

Team Night

This past week our Falcon Ridge Elementary Intervention Staff hosted a parent 'Team Night' which served to give information to parent on the supportive intervention services that are provided at our building. There was information and resources shared with all parents to help them better understand how they can work as partners in their child's education to further their learning. Thank you to our Falcon Ridge Interventionists Renee Dauk-Blees (Title I teacher-rdauk-blees@np.k12.mn.us), Johna Anderson (Reading Specialist-johanderson@np.k12.mn.us), and Jan Giesen (RtI Specialist-jgiesen@np.k12.mn.us) for planning the night.
