Spring Conferences

We recently held our spring parent/teacher conferences, which serve as an outstanding time for our staff to be able to communicate about the progress that each student is making at this point in the year. I'm happy to report that we had 97% of our students were represented by at least one parent or guardian during our conferences. This is a fantastic representation of the commitment that our families have to being a partner in their child's education here in the New Prague Area Schools.

Thank you parents for all that you do!

I Love to Read Month

This past week we wrapped up a fantastic month of celebrating the importance of literacy, as modeled by both students and staff at Falcon Ridge. Our students did a fantastic job of "Making their Mark", as they collectively donated over 1300 gently used books to the Peace Center of New Prague.

Additionally, each student had a weekly reading goal as determined by their grade level, and one lucky student-along with a few staff members-were able to throw a pie at Mr. Giesen. A special 'thank you' goes out to Mrs. McNab, Mrs. Kluegel, and Mrs. Anderson for the efforts in working behind the scenes to make this a meaningful and enjoyable month for our staff and students.

What a great month of reading at Falcon Ridge!

NPAS Science Fair

Congratulations to all 82 Elementary Scientists who presented their projects on Saturday March 7th at New Prague Middle School.  A variety of topics were researched and tested using the scientific method or the engineering model. Judging took place in shifts with National Honor Society and community members taking on the tough task of judging these quality projects. Each student spent time with three judges.

Following judging, an award ceremony was held in the auditorium where middle and high school science fair participants presented prizes from projects they judged for Special Awards, a random drawing was held for all participants and prizes were awarded for the scavenger hunt participants. The following students were awarded purple ribbons and have the chance to represent New Prague Schools in regional competition in Mankato on Saturday April 25: Anthony  Longton, Adam Pankow, Ian Degross, Lucy Helgestad, Ava Rivard, Nora Rosemeier, Annie Glomski, Alexis Rueger, Matthew Ryburn, Bailey Newman, Claire Blees, Ava Collins, Courtney French, Madison Josephson, Jonathan Sayler, Ashlyn Erickson, Lucas Ferguson, Amanda Boyer, Lexi Miller, Abigail Bartusek. Alternates are: Anna Schellin, Libby Olson, Macy Tietz , Evie Wegner and Henry Cox.

The science fair program is generously sponsored by New Prague Community Education and the Gifted and Talented Program. District coordinator is Jodi Prchal, along with teachers Cathy Ilkka, Brian Triplett and Rich Wilson who helped with our kickoff event, help sessions and with the fair itself. Students interested in participating next year should start thinking of a project this summer and contact Mrs. Jodi Prchal for a packet by emailing her at jprchal@np.k12.mn.us

New Prague Elementary Science Fair-Saturday March 7

See below for information in regards to upcoming Science Fair information:

  • Falcon Science Fair Preview is on Friday March 6!  Students in the science fair should plan on bringing their board to school on Friday.
  • The preview fair will be on Friday beginning at 1:00 and ending at 3:30. The purpose is to show the other students in our school their project and build excitement for the science fair program, along with giving the students some practice presenting for the actual fair on Sat March 7th.  We ask parents to not plan on attending the preview if possible, due to the large number of participants and space in the Multi-Purpose Gym. There are parents needed to help hand out clipboards, and keep our classrooms moving through the gym as they view.
  • The Falcon Ridge PAC has generously offered to purchase pizza for a pizza party celebration before the preview! Two slices of pizza will be served and students should bring their own beverage.
  • Questions? Contact Mrs. Prchal at jprchal@np.k12.mn.us or 952-758-1663. Volunteers are needed to pick up the pizzas at noon and help serve and guide students until 3:30.
